Dos Santos doesn't want a revenge fight with Frank Mir, to resume training after knee surgery
Junior dos Santos does not want to fight Frank Mir on the basis of avenging Mir's arm breaking win against his friend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and is set to resume training within the following days after successful knee surgery according to tatame.com.
"I don't need to revenge him. I guess there's no such thing, I guess he (Rodrigo) can do it himself. But I confess I have never picked out opponents and I won't, but if someday I fight Frank Mir, absolutely it'd be an interesting fight," dos Santos said.
Nogueira has since undergone surgery to repair the damaged ligaments in his arm and shoulder. As dos Santos points out, the loss was unfortunate especially when Nogueira had Mir hurt with strikes.?
"He (Rodrigo) had the win in his hands and with Frank Mir knocked out in front of him, and, for some reason, he didn't keep punching him...He'll stay some time off. But we know it already, I know what it'll be the result of it: Rodrigo will comeback and bring much joy to all of us," dos Santos said.
Dos Santos also underwent surgery recently when torn meniscus in his knee was discovered after his fight with Cain Velasquez at UFC on Fox. The surgery is a success and "Cigano" is eager to return to training.
"There're 17 days I've gone through the surgery and I'm feeling fine. I just got to regain confidence and train again, but in 10 days I'll be training normally," dos Santos said.
Dos Santos currently awaits the next challenger for his UFC heavyweight belt, most likely the winner of the upcoming UFC 141 matchup between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.
